FAIR HAVEN – Fair Haven marked the completion of its renovated Department of Public Works facility last Friday, with Mayor Josh Halpern cutting a ceremonial blue ribbon. The project expands recycling options for residents by adding clothing donations, electronics drop-off and improved cardboard collection to handle the surge in packaging from home deliveries. Those services became available in August, ahead of Friday’s official event.

Multiple projects that include upgrades to and construction of borough facilities were on the agenda at the latest council meeting. In a meeting that lasted nearly four hours, council members were given an overview of the borough’s stormwater management mandates, an update on the renovation process at borough facilities, and a presentation by the Two River Wastewater Reclamation Authority.

The sound of construction work may accompany children’s squeals in some borough parks soon as significant improvement projects get underway this year.

During a three-hour meeting on April 17, the borough governing body outlined plans for facility improvements and road and sidewalk “micro projects” that will take place at 30 locations around the borough.

The borough’s underground lead pipelines will be replaced over a period of 10 years, Jaclyn Flor, president and CEO of ENGenuity Infrastructure, told the borough council at a meeting last month.

Officials have reached an agreement regarding specifics of a new water tower to be installed by New Jersey American Water (NJAW) on Pinebrook Road in the Eatontown section of Fort Monmouth.
