HOLMDEL – The return of former mayor Gregory Buontempo, a winner in last year’s general election, to the township committee sent ripples through the swearing-in ceremonies during Holmdel’s annual reorganization Monday night – before erupting into full-blown political clashes over appointments, campaign ethics and development policy.

TINTON FALLS – The borough ushered in a new era Monday night as Mayor Risa Clay and several newly elected council members were sworn in during the annual reorganization meeting at borough hall.

FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners held its annual reorganization meeting Tuesday, Jan. 7, once again unanimously selecting commissioner Thomas Arnone to serve as the director of the board for the upcoming year. Arnone is serving his sixth, three-year term on the board and his ninth year as director.

HOLMDEL – The township committee reorganized with new leadership at the helm, pledging to preserve open space while facing a stiff deadline to meet the state’s affordable housing obligations.

Although it was a gloomy day at the shore, there was a friendly atmosphere at Sea Bright Borough’s reorganization meeting Jan. 6.

The borough hall was packed for Oceanport’s reorganization meeting as officials were sworn in, honors were doled out, and a new mayor took his seat on the dais.

It was a celebration of old and new milestones as the township committee forged ahead into the new year at its annual reorganization meeting in a packed courtroom Sunday, Jan. 7.

The transition to a new year following the November election was seamless as three key borough officials returned to their former posts.

This year’s reorganization meeting featured returning faces on the dais, the election of a new council president and an exciting project update.

On a stormy evening, just as Gov. Phil Murphy announced a state of emergency in anticipation of heavy rains, severe flooding and high winds, former Assembly member Kim Eulner was named mayor of Shrewsbury at the borough council’s regular meeting. She is the 20th mayor and only the third woman to lead the borough in its history.
