Hundreds turned out for the annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 9, which was a lucky day for weather and a fun day for all who turned out to cheer on the marchers. Featuring bagpipes, floats and more, the parade, first held in 2013, has grown into one of the community’s most anticipated annual traditions.

As March approaches, Highlands, Little Silver and Rumson are organizing the final touches for their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, offering parades, food, music and more.

RUMSON – “It starts with the meal,” said Anthony Vaber, as he surveyed the 74 volunteers in the Rumson Presbyterian Church who had just packed 10,152 nutritious meals in 90 minutes.

RUMSON – A plan to construct 12 affordable housing rental units for seniors moved forward this month after nonprofit affordable housing developers Bergen County’s United Way (BCUW) and Madeline Housing Partners (MHP) received site plan approval from the Rumson Planning Board.

The yearslong plan to replace the Oceanic Bridge, a major throughway connecting Rumson and Middletown, moved forward last week as the Monmouth County Commissioners conditionally awarded a preliminary engineering contract.

As voters head to the polls in just a few weeks and mail-in ballots have already been sent, many residents across the country will face an unusual situation: they won’t have a choice in their local elections. Thousands of local races are going uncontested, meaning only one or even no candidates are running for an open position. This trend is evident across the nation, and the Two River area is no exception.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) Professional Responsibility Unit and Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred in the borough during the early morning of Sept. 6.

This past week Middletown police arrested three suspects attempting to steal motorcycles from a sales lot, while Rumson police arrested a man for aggravated assault at a local restaurant.
