It’s almost spring! After a long, cold winter, many look forward to scheduling some spring plans. Whether it’s an intimate dinner for two, a group outing, a birthday celebration or other festivity, the key is great company, fine food and celebratory cocktails or mocktails.

It has been said that “eating well is the best revenge,” a play on the “living well…” quote. I’m not sure what we are getting even for, but at the end of the year I was left with a number of fond memories of some of the best things I ate while reviewing area restaurants over the previous 12 months.

The menu at Saffron, a recently opened restaurant on Front Street in Red Bank, states that it offers “Modern Indian Dining,” which begs the question, what is “modern” Indian dining or cuisine, as opposed to traditional Indian cuisine?
