The Shore Conference’s reputation as one of the best girls’ basketball leagues in the country is alive and well. Red Bank Catholic captured the crown with a thrilling come-from-behind win over Saint Rose. The RBC/Saint Rose rivalry was one of the highlights of the 2024-25 season. This year’s All-Area team has tremendous depth.

PISCATAWAY – Last year, Rumson-Fair Haven made history winning its first state wrestling championship. The Bulldogs didn’t have to wait long for the second.

LAKEWOOD – St. John Vianney had six individual champions at the Shore Conference Tournament, dominating the field and winning the wrestling team title for the second straight year.

PISCATAWAY – It wasn’t going to be easy. Rumson-Fair Haven experienced heartbreak at SHI Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University in the Group 2 state championship game before. But in 2024, the Bulldogs flipped the script and captured the school’s first outright state title, one that had eluded them the past two years.

The road to Rutgers begins for public high school teams this weekend as the state playoffs are upon us. Five local teams are in the postseason, while Red Bank Catholic and St. John Vianney have one more regular season game before they begin play in the Non-Public “B” state playoffs next weekend. 

WEST LONG BRANCH – When colleges join a new conference it can take years to adjust to the competition. However, Monmouth University soccer has found its niche in just two.

It’s the final week of the regular season for public schools; Red Bank Catholic and St. John Vianney have two more weeks of games before they begin the postseason.

Perhaps the most recognizable high school fight song at the Jersey Shore is the one the Middletown High School North Orange Wave marching band plays after every touchdown.

WEST LONG BRANCH – Don Klein is Ocean Township’s all-time winningest coach.

HOLMDEL – Bobby Acosta has made 13 stops in high school and college coaching, most notably at national powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida where he coached Michigan national champ and Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
