Christopher Laurance Tanis, 67, of Stuart, Florida, and formerly of Colts Neck, passed away March 20. Born July 28, 1948 in Summit, he grew up in New Providence before moving to Colts Neck, where he lived for over 30 years. Chris graduated from Christian Brothers Academy ‘66 and Trenton State College ‘73. He retired from Rubbermaid after many years of working in sales.

Chris loved music, cars, fishing, and cruising on the river (Budweiser/Rheingold in hand). He spent his time rooting for the Mets, completing the NY Times crossword puzzle, and building model airplanes. He most enjoyed the company of close friends and family, often travelling together to the Florida Keys, Long Beach Island and Martha’s Vineyard; all places he loved. Chris will be deeply missed by those who knew him well.

Chris was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius and Gerd (Nelson) Tanis of Willow Street, Pennsylvania. Chris is survived by his children, Erik Tanis (Megan) and grandson Cayden, of Fayetteville, Georgia, Soren Godfrey (Brian) of New York, New York; his ex-wife, Pamela Tanis of Holmdel; a brother, Dirk Tanis (Gay) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and nephew, Dirk Jr.; many cousins; and a close network of friends that were like family to him.
