Temple to Holds Jewish Scholars Speaker Series

TINTON FALLS – Monmouth Reform Temple continues its distinguished Jewish Scholars Guest Speaker Series during March and April.
Rabbi Stephen Pearce will present two programs. He is a senior rabbi in a congregation in San Francisco who earned his Ph.D. in counselor psychology at St. John’s University in New York City. He went on to author several books and earned many accolades for his work in combating hunger in the San Francisco area. He has been recognized three times by Newsweek as one of the 50 Most Influential Rabbis in the United States.
The programs are:

  • “Shifting Landscapes:  Redefining Jewish Groupings” at Shabbat Eve Services at 7 p.m. Friday, March 28.
  • “Overlooking the Obvious: The Binding Isaac Revealed in Literature and Poetry” at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29.

Rabbi Karyn Kedar is the senior rabbi in a congregation in the Chicago area.  She has published several books and numerous anthologies and is renowned for her creative liturgy. She teaches courses and leads retreats that explore the need for meaning and purpose in our busy lives.
She will be presenting at an all-day seminar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, which includes a light lunch and cost $36 per person. RSVP to the temple office at: helene@monmouthreformtempl.org.

  • “The Sacred Partnership-Leadership is a Calling” from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • “God Whispers, Making Meaning Out of Transition” from 1 to 3 p.m.
