The Open Space Pace, Festival Back Sept. 20

FREEHOLD – The Open Space Pace Parade, Festival of Horses and Country Fair, a free all-day event, will be held, beginning at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 20, with a parade of horses from the Monmouth County Hall to Freehold Raceway.
The parade route will take the line of march of down Main Street, aka Route 537, to the race track fireworks.
The event will celebrate horses, the New Jersey state animal, and all of the people who work with this great animal. The event also will raise necessary funds for nonprofits that work with horses and other nonprofit organizations involved in the promotion of open space.
The track is located at 130 Park Ave.
The kickoff parade will feature the Freehold High School Marching Band, Wells Fargo Stage Coach and more than 70 New Jersey horses and riders from various equine organizations.
Once at the track, there will be equine and agricultural displays, a petting zoo, a mare and foal exhibit, food trucks, and a blacksmiths contest.
The standard race-card will start at 12:30 p.m.
The day will end with a concert opened by The Eddie Testa Band followed by the headline act, The Nerds. Fireworks will close out the festivities.
