ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – The golf season started with an explosion of hole-in-ones on Saturday, April 12, at Beacon Hill Country Club (BHCC), a private member-owned golf club. Three amateur golfers had aces on the same day within one hour of each other during the club’s annual opening tournament.
Greg Esterhal of HoleInOneInsurance.Com calculated the odds of Saturday’s feat happening at 3 million to one.
Dr. Robert Breeden started the day off with his hole-in-one on the 142 yard 9th hole using a 7 Iron. No more than 20 minutes later, Jim Beatty claimed his ace on 195 yard 18th hole with a 3 Hybrid club and 30 minutes later Chuck Anttonen completed the trifecta on the 9th hole using a pitching wedge.
Chuck Edwards, head golf professional at Beacon Hill, said: “Over the 20 years that I have been head pro at BHCC, there has never been more than one ace in a single day – to have three in the same tournament on our opening day is just amazing.”
The club had five “hole-in-ones” in all of 2013.
