MIDDLETOWN – The Trinity Hall swim team nailed a host of accomplishments in its inaugural season this winter, including placing third last month in NJSIAA Prep B Championships.
During the Meet of Champions, the Monarchs’ relay team of Caroline Gmelich, Abby Marcin, Lily Scott, and Malia Wolf placed in the 400-meter free relay and the 200-medley relay. In the preliminary round of the 200-medley relay, Trinity Hall’s time of 1:53.15 was the fastest of any team in Monmouth County this season, according to head coach Alyssa Morreale.
Individually, Gmelich finished seventh in the 100 backstroke and 13th in the 200 freestyle. Wolf also placed in individual competition, taking 11th in the 100 butterfly.
Gmelich made noise last summer when she impressed as a member of the Central Jersey Aquatic team when she broke a New Jersey record during a competition in Richmond, Va.
“All nine swimmers made significant improvements throughout the season to help contribute to the team’s success, and we expect to build on the achievements of this first season as we continue to grow in size and strength in the years to come,” Morreale said.
