Two River Times Wins NJPA Awards

Congratulations to The Two River Times team for winning seven 2023 New Jersey Press Association awards. Each year the organization recognizes excellence in local reporting throughout the state.

The Two River Times received the following accolades:

First Place for Packaging the News – Editorial Section Layout & Content, for the April 13 and Nov. 2 editions went to the staff, including editors Judy O’Gorman Alvarez and Elizabeth Wulfhorst and production designer Eduardo Pinzon.

First Place to Sunayana Prabhu, reporter, for her article “Oceanport’s Got Gobble Trouble” in the Fresh Approach to Routine Reporting category.

Second Place to Stephen Appazzato, reporter, for his articles “Monmouth Park Proposes Development to Address Financial Uncertainty” and “Proposed Development at Monmouth Park Gallops On” in the Coverage of Government – Art Weissman Memorial Award category.

Second Place to Sunayana Prabhu, reporter, for her series of articles “Residents Launch Petition Against Colts Neck Development,” “Colts Neck Residents Raise a Storm About Potential Threat to County’s Drinking Water” and “Amid Water Concerns, Colts Neck Development Still in the Pipeline” in News Writing.

Second Place to Stephen Appezzato, reporter, for his series of articles in the Education category: “Towns Pushing Controversial Transgender Student Policy Revisions,” “Partisan Pushback Over Transgender School Policy Changes,” “Transgender Student Policy Ignites Local vs State Legal Battle” and “More Schools Reconsider Transgender Student Policies.”

Third Place to Sunayana Prabhu for her headlines: “May the Fizz Be With You: Basie Center Cinemas to Get Liquor License,” “Holmdel Residents Feel Gaslit by NJNG” and “Amid Water Concerns, Colts Neck Development Still in the Pipeline.”

Third Place to Elizabeth Wulfhorst, features editor, for her article “Two Teachers Now United in Life” in the Health & Science Writing category.
