Wayne P. White, born July 17, 1962, passed away peacefully at his home June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.

Born in Long Branch, Wayne was the only child of the late Grandon “Wayne” and Gail White. He lived in Leonardo his entire life, where he built deep roots, lasting friendships, and a reputation for being a kind, handy and loving man. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his generous spirit and the quiet strength with which he met life’s many challenges.

Wayne spent many years working as a heavy equipment operator, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dependable nature. He took pride in doing a job well and was respected by those who worked alongside him. Whether on the job or at home, Wayne was the kind of person others could count on. He had a gift for fixing things and could repair just about anything, from guitars and lawnmowers to more delicate items such as jewelry. His hands were skilled and his mind was always ready to solve a problem.

Music was one of Wayne’s greatest joys. He loved music deeply and was a master guitar player whose talent and passion left a lasting impression on everyone who heard him play. He shared that love with his son, passing down not only his appreciation for music but also his love of guitars. Some of the most meaningful moments in his life were found in the simple pleasure of playing, listening and sharing music with those he loved.

Wayne was also an avid history buff who enjoyed learning about local history and landmarks. He had a genuine curiosity about the world around him and took pride in understanding the places and stories that shaped his community. He was especially proud of his Native American heritage, which was an important part of who he was and how he saw the world.

His respect for history and tradition was matched by his love of animals, who brought him comfort and companionship throughout his life.

Wayne is survived by his beloved son, Wayne R. White, and his longtime companion, Liz Charleston. He also leaves behind his former wife and close friend, Kimberly White. Wayne’s family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the many ways he enriched their lives with his kindness, humor and unwavering loyalty.

Wayne will be remembered as a man of character and heart, someone who was always willing to lend a hand and who found joy in the things that mattered most. His legacy lives on in the music he played, the things he repaired, the history he appreciated and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A service will conclude the evening and a private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA at monmouthcountyspca.org.
