William E. Westerberg Sr., 62, of Port Monmouth, passed away July 5 at home surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness.
William was born April 23, 1957 in Red Bank, a son of the late Ruth and Leonard Westerberg Sr. He was raised in Middletown and settled in Port Monmouth 30 years ago. Bill was a custodian at Middletown Township Board of Education. Prior to that, Bill was a sheet rocker with BG&L Drywall and Quality Drywall. Bill enjoyed building things; besides his contracting work, he was a skilled carpenter. When he was not working, he enjoyed doing puzzles, weight lifting, listening to music, especially AC/DC, and cheering on his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. But most of all, he loved being with his family.
William is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Lorraine Westerberg, and their two sons, William Jr. and his wife Veronica, and Paul Westerberg, all of Port Monmouth. William also leaves behind his sister Ruthanne DiBona of Florida and three granddaughters, Rebecca, Madison and Ashlyn. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at Leonardo Baptist Church, Leonard Avenue and Highland Avenue, Leonardo.
