William D. Copeland

William D. Copeland, 90, of Fair Haven, passed away April 1, 2021. He was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Manhattan to the late William Copeland and Caroline Jurman. 

After serving his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, William earned an associate degree from Monmouth College and worked for Verizon for 35 years before retiring. William was a man of great faith, having ushered at St. Michael’s in Long Branch, Holy Cross Church in Rumson and Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven. William valued community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Long Branch and he also volunteered with Lunch Break in Red Bank, Rumson Fire Police and Fair Haven Fire Police. 

William is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Diane M. Copeland. Also surviving are his loving son William M. Copeland, his cherished daughters, Patricia Mieth (James), Diane Campione (Joseph), Margaret Walton (William), and Barbara Hendrickson (Roy). He is also survived by his four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

All services are private and under the direction of John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in William’s memory to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers of Maryknoll, New York.
