William J. “Bill” Schultz Jr., 83, of Middletown, passed away Sept. 16, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to his high school sweetheart, Margaret “Peggy” Schultz née Dunn and devoted father of Pam Brightbill and husband Mark, Linda Messa and Marybeth Schultz; loving grandfather of Conley Brightbill and wife Kate, Alex Glass, Elizabeth Brightbill Matthews and husband Jessie, Maggie Glass Post and husband Josh, Charles Messa, Luke Glass, William Messa, Hannah Messa and Emma Kilbride; and a cherished great-grandfather.

William was the caring brother of the late Marilyn Loftus and Carol Laux. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Jersey City to William and Mabel Schultz, Bill attended Jersey City Schools and was a Seton Hall graduate. In high school, he met Peggy, the love of his life, and they later married and raised three daughters together. A devoted family man, Bill was dedicated to his wife and children, then later in life to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fondly enjoying Sunday dinners together as a family.

As the founder of Schultz Metal Service, Bill had a long, successful career in the steel industry and continued working after his retirement as a consultant. A longtime parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua in Red Bank, he served as an usher for many years and was a member of the Saint Crispin Society.

Family and friends visited Sept. 20 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A funeral Mass was held Sept. 21 Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
