William “Skip” Skillman, 85, of Sebastian, Florida, passed away peacefully Nov. 23, 2024, at his son’s home in Belford. He was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Red Bank.

Skip graduated from Middletown High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He met his beloved wife Mary in Newfoundland, Canada. They fell in love and moved to New Jersey where they were married and had their first and only child, Billy.

Skip worked several jobs at Lily Tulip and eventually retired from General Motors. He continued to work at Semcore Equipment, JRH Electric and Century Conveyor.

Skip enjoyed time with his family. He loved the outdoors – hunting, fishing and camping. After he finished his career, he officially retired in 1999, taking his wife Mary to Sebastian, Florida, where he volunteered at the Sebastian Police Department. His granddaughter Emilee was greatly influenced by his involvement in the police department – she now works with the Sea Bright Police Department.

Skip had an infectious sense of humor and was loved by everyone.

Surviving are his son, William “Billy” Skillman, granddaughter Emillee Catherine Skillman, and many brothers, sisters and in-laws, John Coady, Catherine Coady, Rose Burgess, Frances Kenny, Bernard Coady, Paula Caraue and Norma Greene.

William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary. 

All services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
