Zabawa, Carolyn Ann, Age: 72, Red Bank

Carolyn Ann Zabawa, 72, of Red Bank, was suddenly called home to be with her Lord Aug. 24. She was the loving mother of Alyce Zabawa and Matthew Zabawa, and lifelong spouse of the heart, Kenneth Kukura. Carolyn also leaves behind her cherished extended family members and close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Zabawa and parents, Eileen (Hiett) and Harold Wilkins. 

Born in Decatur, Illinois, the family relocated to Monmouth County after Carolyn’s father was stationed at Fort Monmouth when she was a teenager. A graduate of Middletown High School (’65) and Ellen Cushing Junior College, Carolyn spent a good portion of her employment with Cooper Electric and Acme/A&P at various locations for over 20 years. 

Carolyn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Red Bank, and often attended worship services at St. James Roman Catholic Church. She was a die-hard NY Giants fan and an avid camper who enjoyed spending time with friends throughout the Northeastern region of the United States.  

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Aug. 29 from 6-9 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home Friday, Aug. 30 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Brid. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
