Richard Zindell, 69, of Middletown, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Arbor Terrace of Middletown. Richard was born on August 30, 1946 in Bayonne where he grew up. He also lived in Jersey City for some time. In 1976, Richard and his late wife, Alice, settled in Middletown to raise their family.

Richard graduated from Marist High School in 1964, having been a track team champion for the 220 yard and 440 yard sprints. He also qualified for the Olympic trials for the 1964 Olympic games.

Before retiring, Richard worked as the vice president of benefits at Inter Public Group in Manhattan, New York. He was also a proud United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star. Richard was also an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Alice (O’Shea) Zindell; his parents, Edward and Catherine Zindell; and his siblings, Kathleen Milane and Edward Zindell. Richard is survived by his loving children, Eileen Wildrick and her husband Wayne of Staten Island, New York, Brian Zindell and his wife Amy Sherman of Arizona, Kevin Zindell of Arizona, and Kathleen Goodman and her husband John Jr. (“JJ”) of Howell. Richard is also survived by his dear sister, Marybeth Sessions, along with his cherished grandchildren, Wayne, Emma, Samantha, Gianna, Nathan, John, Ace and Zachary. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
