Fair Haven Garden Club to Hold Plant Sale
FAIR HAVEN – The Garden Club of Fair Haven is holding its annual plant sale May 9-10 at the Fair Haven Firehouse parking lot, 645 River Road. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 10.
Member-grown perennials and specialty shrubs, including hanging baskets and garden items, will be for sale. Master Gardeners will be on hand to help answer gardening queries. This year a 50/50 raffle will be available. Tickets are $5 each and will be available on both days of the sale; drawing will be at noon on Saturday, May 10. Tickets also may be purchased from garden club members in advance.
The plant sale event helps to support the club’s efforts to maintain and beautify the town’s parks, local student scholarships, and more.
The Garden Club of Fair Haven was founded more than 60 years ago to bring together women with a mutual interest in gardening. Today, the civic-minded group has an active membership of 50 women who contribute their labor, time and resources to improve and maintain Fair Haven’s public spaces. The club has also decorated the Governor’s mansion for the Christmas season several times and works with other garden clubs on special gardening projects.
