1/2 – Middletown Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Crash

MIDDLETOWN – Township police are investigating the traffic crash that left a pedestrian dead on Dec. 29.
Nadra Sourial, a 75-year-old township resident, was struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 6:10 p.m. while crossing the intersection at Highway 35 northbound and Harmony Road, according to Det. Lt. Stephen Dollinger, a township police spokesman.
Police at this time are only indentifying the driver of the Hyundai Sonata that struck Sourial as a 70-year-old male Matawan resident.
The collision caused a portion of the highway to be closed for approximately four hours, Dollinger said.
Cpl. Thomas Russo and Cpl. Darrin Simons of the department’s Traffic Bureau are conducting the investigation and are asking anyone with any information to contact the bureau at 732-615-2045,
Police were assisted at the scene by the township EMS, NJ State Police Incident Management Team, New Jersey Department of Transportation Highway Response Team and MONOC paramedics, according to Dollinger.
