RED BANK – Murphy’s Style Grill, long a staple of the downtown, has shut its doors.
The restaurant at 26 Broad St. posted a sign posted on its door  Tuesday announcing it would be closed until further notice, according to James Scavone, executive director of Red Bank RiverCenter, which oversees the borough’s commercial Special Improvement District.
But the restaurant’s owner, Mario Medici, has sold the business and liquor license to the owner of the building, 26 Broad Street, LLC, with the owners looking for someone to take over the business, according to Scavone.
“He’s been talking about retiring for quite some time,” Scavone said of Medici.
Police are currently conducting a standard background check that takes place so the borough council can formally approve the license’s transfer, said Borough Clerk Pam Borghi.
Medici was not immediately available for comment.
