Michael James Drury, 72, of Belford, passed away suddenly at home Dec. 8. Michael was born Sept. 15, 1947 and raised in Jersey City, a son of the late Nora and Michael P. Drury. After marrying the love of his life he moved to Belford. Mike worked as an electrician at Hoffman-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley for many years, retiring in 2008. Prior to that, he worked at Ciba Geigy in Summit until its closing.

Mike was an avid reader and a music aficionado. He loved to learn things by reading or regularly surfing the internet. Mike enjoyed travelling with his wife. Their most recent trip was for their anniversary when they travelled to Switzerland and Austria this past summer. Mike will always be remembered for his sense of humor and for telling entertaining stories. He was well liked by everyone, including every dog he met along the Hudson Trail where he walked daily. He also was a member of the Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club in Jackson and took great pride in his gun collection.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Alicia (Brown) Drury. He also leaves behind his sister Kathleen Barry of Manahawkin and brother and sister-in-law, James and Audrey Drury of Massachusetts, along with his and Alicia’s many nieces, nephews and friends and Alicia’s siblings. Michael was predeceased by his sister Eileen Oxley.

Friends and relatives paid Dec. 14 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A funeral service concluded the evening and a private cremation followed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Marines Toys for Tots Program or Fulfill Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
