Rosemarie and Joseph McDonald are celebrating 65 wonderful years of marriage!

Rosie Ferro and Joe met in 1958 at a Catholic Young Adult Club (CYAC) meeting. At the time, Rosie was a secretary for the Circle Chevrolet dealership in Red Bank. Joe was in his last year of college at St. John’s University in Queens, New York.

The couple started dating and fell in love. They married at a nuptial Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank on Oct. 10, 1959, followed by a reception at Buck Smith’s House of Brides in Middletown.

A registered pharmacist, Joe was at one time a partner in Bayshore Pharmacy in Atlantic Highlands. Together, the couple raised their four children: Patricia, who is married to Charlie Steiniger; Edward, married to Linda; Christopher; and Raymond. Joe and Rosie have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Throughout the years, the couple lived in Red Bank, Oceanport, Lincroft, Atlantic Highlands and Middletown, and were “snow birds” with a Florida home for many years.

Now Rosie and Joe live in a great apartment in Red Bank. They still cook together and enjoy a full and independent life.

“We thank God for the blessings today and for these many years of loving and living together,” Joe said.
