Pedro Pablo Larrauri, age 80, passed away Sept. 27, 2024, at Riverview Medical Center. Pedro was born Sept. 14, 1944, in Cardenas, Cuba, to Enrique Antonio and Cecilia Gonzalez Larrauri. After moving to the United States in 1962, he lived in Jacksonville, Illinois, and Kearny before settling in Shrewsbury in 1974.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965-1967. He met the love of his life, Ileana Jaume, in 1968, and they were married in Harrison in November of that year. Pedro graduated from Illinois College in 1972 and earned his MBA from Monmouth University in 1979.

Pedro spent his professional life working for Prudential Property and Casualty. In his free time, he enjoyed building beautiful furniture and was a very talented woodworker. He enjoyed spending time on his boat, Toño. He loved to relax by smoking cigars by the pool and shooting the breeze. He also loved to travel (especially to St. Thomas), take photos and enjoy time with his family.

Pedro’s life was rich with the love of his family and friends. His smile would always make you feel welcome and safe. He was a generous man with an optimistic outlook on life. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Pedro was predeceased by his parents, Enrique Antonio and Cecilia Larrauri, his brother Tony and sister Raquel.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife Ileana, his beloved children, Ileana (Joseph) Cavanagh, Nancy (Erik) Mueller and Michael (Briana) Larrauri, and the ones who made him proudest, his six grandchildren, Cassandra and Owen Cavanagh, Brendan and Alexandra Mueller, and Maxwell and Weston Larrauri.

Family and friends visited Oct. 2 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at St. James Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
