AAA MID-ATLANTIC CAR Care, Insurance and Travel Center celebrated its official grand opening Wednesday, at its new location in a strip mall at 889 Route 35 in Middletown, near Tindall Road.
AAA provides road service for breakdowns, offers automobile insurance and provides full service travel agency services. Recently, it announced it will come to the aid of cyclists who find themselves stranded with a popped tire or bent rim.
“We want people to know we are not just a road service,” Bill Bennett, the District Director of AAA Mid-Atlantic, said. “Now we do travel fares, insurance, even bicycle repair.”
Before the Middletown location opened last February, the closest available center for local customers was in Eatontown. Matt Germek, the Retail Office Manager of AAA Mid-Atlantic in Middletown, says the new location is already seeing high traffic.
“It’s a great area, especially traffic-wise,” Germek said. “And now our customers will not have to travel as far to get service.”
AAA prides itself on fast response time. On their website, they claim that 60 percent of break- downs are fixed by AAA workers on the spot, letting their customers drive away and not have to be towed. They hope to bring the same type of service to their members in Middletown.
“We have been doing very well in this location,” Bennett said. “We have exposure to a major road, and it fits our demographic well. There are high amounts of AAA members in the area.” The hours of the location are 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturdays 8 a.m. –
5 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Basic memberships are $52, $99 and $152 a year. The more expensive memberships offer benefits such as longer mileage allowed on tows, free gas and a $10,000 identity theft insurance.
