Joseph T. Adubato, 94, of Port Monmouth, died on Tuesday, October 31 at Riverview Medical Center. He was born in Newark. Joseph attended what was then Leonardo High School and was a member of the 1940 football team that went undefeated under Coach Truax and they were only scored upon once that entire season. He is in the Middletown Football Hall of Fame and he played semi-pro football with the Leonardo Field Club.

Joseph served in the US Army in during World War II. He was a staff sergeant with the 290th Field Artillery Observation Battalion in the European Theatre. After Joseph left the service, he owned his own taxi in Middletown and he is a retired member of the Local 156 Laborers Union in New Brunswick.

He was a founding member of the Belford Seafood Coop and he owned and operated his own vessel, the Seastar. Joseph is also retired from the Belford Independent Fire Company.

Joseph was a good-natured man who loved gardening, traveling and keeping busy. He was a lover of animals and fishing was his life. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Sylvester and Emma Adubato; his brother, John Adubato; and his sister, Lena Dunn. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Bernice Adubato (nee Glowacki); his son, Stephen Adubato; and many nieces and nephews.
