Alice Patricia “Pat” Grim Stenson, 83, of Red Bank, died June 8 at Bayside Manor in Keansburg after a lengthy illness.

A 1957 graduate of the College of Mount St. Vincent in the Bronx, Pat began her working career after college at the Equitable Life Assurance Society in New York, where she met her husband. She also spent many years volunteering, including with the Deborah Foundation, as well as lending a hand at her children’s schools when they were younger. She later worked as a sensory evaluator at International Fragrances & Flavors in Union Beach before retiring. 

An avid traveler and reader of history, Pat was also an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets, New York Giants and the New York City Opera. She is well remembered for her ability to belt out “The Star Bangled Banner” while attending New York Giants football games, which she did for 33 seasons.

She was born in Philadelphia and raised on Long Island. She lived in Aberdeen for many years before moving to Red Bank in 1999. Pat was well known for her sharp wit and attention to details. Her personality is recalled well by those who knew and loved her.

Pat attended The Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven and previously was a member of St. Benedict’s Church in Holmdel for many years. 

Surviving are her husband of 61 years Richard; her children, Karen of Toms River, John of Boonton, and Eric (Terri) of Farmingdale; her grandchildren, Mary Determan, Michael, Marshall, Shane and Arianna Stenson; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Thompson Memorial Home in Red Bank is entrusted with the arrangements. Services and a funeral Mass will be announced in the future.
