Carol Lynn Halligan Shaffery, age 60, passed away unexpectedly at home in Belford June 13. She was preceded in death by her father Harold J. Halligan Sr. Carol was born in Red Bank and was raised in Rumson. She graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and received her associate degree from Brookdale Community College. At the time of her passing she worked as a crossing guard for Middletown Township Schools and cherished the children she saw each day. Carol was caring, smart, funny and loyal and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived by her husband Joseph Shaffery and her beloved dog Archie. She is also survived by her mother Carolyn R. Halligan of Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania and Port St. Lucie, Florida; brothers Harold J. Halligan and his partner Suzanne of Highlands; Robert E. Halligan and his wife Ann of Rumson; Thomas E. Halligan and his wife Barbara of Pocono Lake; and Paul J. Halligan and his wife Jeanine of Atlantic Highlands; and many nieces and nephews.
