Carol Michael Restrick of Red Bank and Beach Haven passed away peacefully Oct. 2, 2024, surrounded by family. Carol was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Dorothy Lynch Papenhausen and Carl E. Papenhausen. She graduated from Haddonfield High School and Virginia Intermont College.
Carol worked at Snellingburgs Department Store in Philadelphia before marrying her high school sweetheart, Harvey Restrick. She was always supportive of Harvey’s career, which took them from New Jersey to Ohio, Illinois, California, Virginia and finally full circle back to New Jersey. She made many cherished friends and had four daughters along the way.
Carol worked hard to painstakingly set up a home for her family in each city and get involved in her community – from volunteering as Brownie leader for her daughters to volunteering at Riverview Medical Center and Long Beach Island Museum.
Carol always loved to cook and entertain. She served as social chair of Stonehenge Country Club in Richmond and chaired many parties at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in Beach Haven, where she was a member for 35 years.
Before becoming ill, Carol enjoyed playing bridge, reading, hosting dinner parties and playing with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her sharp wit which she maintained until the end.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Dot and Carl Papenhausen.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harvey Restrick; her brother Greg Papenhausen (Jill); her sister-in-law Ruth Biemer; her daughters, Tracey Wurmstich, Heidi Maggs (James), Kelly Henderson (Edward), and Amy Stoldt (Derek); her grandchildren, Cole Wurmstich (Jessica), Keefer Wurmstich (Rheannon), Emma Wurmstich, Michael Maggs, Caroline Maggs, Kyle Henderson, Jack Henderson, Katie Henderson, Xavier Stoldt and Teddy Stoldt; her great-granddaughters, Maddie Rae Wurmstich and Peyton Wurmstich; and her longtime caregiver, Amelia Deynoo.
