NEPTUNE – Christian Brothers Academy soccer coach Dan Keane is making his final season one to remember after the Colts won their first Shore Conference championship since 2011 with a 2-0 shutout over Ocean Township Saturday.
Ryan Nigro’s goal with 12 minutes remaining snapped a scoreless tie, and Aaron Robertson added an insurance goal minutes later and gave the Colts their ninth Shore Conference championship overall in Keane’s 38 years as head coach.
Next for CBA is the NJSIAA Boys soccer tournament, which got underway this week. CBA drew a first round bye and last won a Non-Public A tile in 2011 when it had an unbeaten team.
Keane, who also coaches the CBA tennis team, announced that he was stepping down several months ago. He will likely be replaced by assistant coach Jeff Matson.
