Doris Bahlav née Cordes, 91, formerly from Deal and Monmouth Beach, passed away peacefully at home in Woodland Hills, California, Sept. 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Hackensack and lived in Oradell. After graduating from Dwight Morrow High School in Engelwood, she went on to attend the Barbizon School of Modeling in New York. She was also employed at the A.C. Nielsen Research Corporation in New York.

She married her beloved Arthur Bahlav, who was originally from New York City and had served in the European Theatre in World War II. Together they raised three children in Deal and were married for 37 years, until Arthur passed in 1989.

Doris was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Asbury Park for many years. She had many interests, was active in the Deal School PTA, a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed learning how to play golf. She cherished her children and enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Throughout her life, she was a devoted mother, loving wife and attentive daughter and sister. Her family and children meant everything to her.

After her husband’s passing, she joined Red Bank Radiology, where she enjoyed working for 15 years. In 2005, she retired from Red Bank Radiology with special memories and fond friendships.

In later years, she moved to Woodland Hills, California, where she was given tender care and attention by both her daughter Wendy and son in law Allan. Our hearts are saddened by the passing of this special lady, who will forever be remembered in our heavy hearts.

She is survived by a sister, Laura Dysinger of New York; three children, Susan Alexander (Robert) of Princeton, Wendy Bahlav (Allan Palizi) of Woodland Hills, California, and son Bruce (Karen Pitman) of Charleston, South Carolina.

A private memorial on the Jersey Shore will be scheduled at a later date.
