926

Emilio “Emil” Ramaglia, 98, passed away peacefully with his family by his side July 31 at Bayside Manor in Keansburg. Emil was born July 7, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating high school, he met Lucy, who would eventually become his wife. Emil was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country proudly and with honors in World War II. After his service was over, Emil returned home and married Lucy in 1946.

He remained in Brooklyn until 1996, moving then to Staten Island and eventually, after Lucy’s passing in 2004, to Monmouth County in 2013.

Emil worked for the federal government for many years. After his government retirement, he enjoyed his part time job navigating the environs of New York City as a courier.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lucy, his parents Angelo and Stella, his brothers Victor and Bobby, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Emil was the devoted father to Rita (and Jaime), Joseph (and Anne), and Maria (and George). He is also survived by his grandchildren Sabrina, Jimmy (Rebecca) and Tess, his sister-in-law Theresa, and many nieces and nephews.

Emil had many joys in his life, some of which were his New York Yankees, the violin, mandolin, keyboard, driving, and playing cards, especially pinochle. Above all his delights, it was his family that made him truly happy. He was a very forgiving and loyal husband, father and grandfather. He was truly family oriented.

Emil reposed at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, Middletown, Aug. 5, for the immediate family only. A Mass of Christian Burial was open to the public Aug. 5 at St. Catherine Laboure Church in Middletown. Private interment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, New York.
