SHREWSBURY – Looking and feeling your best is important, and licensed esthetician Gabrielle Gentile is here to help with both through her boutique medical spa, Glow by Gabrielle.

Located at 1026 Broad St., Shrewsbury, Gentile brings a selection of advanced skin care techniques to her broad client base, with a range of services as simple as dermaplaning to more complex treatments such as chemical peels. It’s all happening at her “clean, simple, modern, comfortable” office – in the name of health.

“Our skin is our largest organ. We have to take care of it from the inside and out. Skin care makes us feel and look better, and helps our overall skin health,” Gentile told The Two River Times. And while skin care is always important, she finds that it has been especially helpful throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. “People have found using skin care (products) helps them relax and feel better physically and mentally,” she said.

The Manalapan native became interested in skin care through her love of cosmetics. Her mother worked for Christian Dior in New York City’s Herald Square for 16 years and Gentile frequently watched her mother do bridal and prom makeup in their home. This fueled Gentile’s passion at an early age. She later attended the Christine Valmy International School in New York and graduated as a licensed esthetician and certified makeup artist in January 2016, and also graduated from the Make-up Designory (MUD) multimedia program. She is also certified in Xtreme Eye Lash extensions.

Since graduation, Gentile has worked for dermatologists, plastic surgeons and at medical spas but took a chance in 2020 and opened her own business. The rest is history.

While the name “Glow by Gabrielle” is a fun alliteration, she joked, it also emphasizes how she wants her customers to look and feel after their appointments – glowing. Some of her most popular requests are for dermaplaning, which exfoliates and removes dead skin, and HydraFacials, which brighten and plump the skin. Her client base at the boutique medical spa ranges in age and she finds more people are coming in and returning with their teenage children.

Though only in her 20s, Gentile said she has worked very hard to get to this point and she’s happy that she can share her talents with those in the Two River area. Through trial and error and experience, she said she has found the “tried and true” products she uses at the spa, but at the same time, she’s “always looking to learn and improve” her craft and to add new products and techniques to her services.

“Everything is really custom and individualized. And being that it is in a salon suite, it’s very one-on-one and intimate with myself and the client,” said Gentile. “Everyone that comes in here leaves as my friend.”
