Preston F. Gillam, 78, a lifelong resident of Belford, passed away July 25. Preston was born in Red Bank Jan. 10, 1941, a son of the late Irene and George Gillam Sr. Preston taught special education with the Matawan School District for many years.
When he was not working, he enjoyed bird watching and day trips with his friend Mike. Preston was a history buff. He was known for sharing stories about his time served in the Army and history in general. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam war.
Preston was predeceased by his parents, George and Irene Gillam and his sister Doris Sullivan. He is survived by his brother George Preston Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Preston also leaves behind his dear friends Valda Fuller and Mike Reyes.
Friends and relatives may paid their respects July 29 and 30 prior to a funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. Burial and committal followed at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.
