Joanne Dorney Sniffen

Joanne Dorney Sniffen was born in 1950 in Yonkers, New York. She graduated from the Academy of Mount St. Ursula in 1967 and Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1970 and earned a degree in psychology from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 1976.

As a child she spent her summers in Kinderhook, New York. Her father Joseph passed in 1956 and her mother Angela in 2013.

Joanne worked as a registered nurse in New York and New Jersey for 53 years. She worked at Misericordia Hospital and St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx and Riverview Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey.

Joanne loved to travel. She traveled all over the United States by car, train and plane. Her favorite states were Florida, Hawaii, Maine and New York. She was an Amtrak frequent traveler. 

She enjoyed a number of sports, including golf, sailing and iceboating. She belonged to AMVETS Post 2 in Jackson and American Legion Post 338 in Leonardo. She was proud of her Irish and Sicilian heritage.

Joanne was a lovable and loving person who never spoke a bad word about anyone. She is loved and remembered by her husband Paul and son Shane as well as dozens of cousins, friends and co-workers whose lives have been made happier by her presence.
