Laura Velez, 92, of Conifer Village in Atlantic Highlands, passed away June 14 at home with her devoted family by her side. Laura was born May 7, 1928 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, one of five daughters born to the late Manuela and Confesor Molina.
Laura married the love of her life Raul Vele August 8, 1955 and shortly after came to America. They settled in Brooklyn for 20 years and then moved to Central Islip where they lived for 37 years before retiring to Conifer Village 12 years ago. Laura was a proud wife and mother and lived to take care of her family.
Laura is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Raul Velez and their two daughters and sons-in-law: Yvonne and Jorge Velez-Flores and Laura and Armondo Mandes, along with her granddaughter Marilyn Mandes-Zino and her husband Brian.
She was predeceased by her four sisters: Maria Antonia Soto, Antonia Maria Feliciano, Illuminada Molina and Lousia Rodriguez.
Friends and family paid their respects June 15 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals with a funeral service. A private cremation followed.
