The Little Silver Board of Education has named Michael Ettore as the new superintendent of the Little Silver School District, replacing Carolyn Kossack who held the position for over a decade and is retiring June 30. Ettore officially resigned May 7 as superintendent/principal of the Monmouth Beach School District, the day he was unanimously approved by the Little Silver board.

According to a letter from board president Andrew Walsh, Ettore was selected from a group of over 60 highly qualified candidates with the assistance of the Strategic Educational Advantage consulting firm. Ettore is not unknown to Little Silver schools: Early in his career he was a math teacher in the district for 10 years.

Ettore earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and his elementary teaching credentials from Kean University. He earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Monmouth University. Ettore holds professional certification as an elementary teacher, principal, supervisor and chief school administrator.

Before taking the superintendent position in Monmouth Beach, Ettore spent nine years as an elementary school principal in Marlboro and Holmdel.
