Lucia Lynn Campo

118

Lucia (Lucy) Lynn Campo, brilliant and beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin and friend, passed away at home Jan. 7, 2024. She was 71. Born in Long Branch, Lucy lived in New Monmouth before moving to Spring Lake 30 years ago.

Lucy graduated from Mater Dei High School and her friends will remember her as the tirelessly enthusiastic president of the Pep Club. She attended the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a degree in business. She was president of Campo Construction Inc. and also worked at the Spring Lake Bath & Tennis Club.

Lucy was a talented artist, the best cook and an Atlantic City aficionado. Above all, she was the heart and soul of her family.

Her thoughtfulness and laughter had a magical quality, filling everyone in her life with a profound sense of love. She had a particular greeting for each person she knew, which made everyone she encountered feel incredibly special. Her operatic rendition of “Happy Birthday” was the highlight of every party. She was generous in every possible way and her warmth allowed all around her to be at ease, laugh and feel safe.

Lucy loved spending time with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and refused to sit anywhere but the kids’ table at any family gathering. She was – and will continue to be – the most important person in many of their lives.

Lucy was predeceased by her father Anthony Campo, her brother Philip Campo and her brother-in-law Charlie Nolan. Surviving are her mother, Maria Campo of Belmar’ her siblings, Connie Nolan, Maria Campo Kolarsick and her husband Paul, Anthony Campo, M.D. and his partner Ron Vazquez, and Carolyn Campo Marcolus and her husband Richard; and 11 nieces and nephews, Maria Thompson, Gina Campo, Ursula Berg, Ali Croot, Victoria Nolan, Noah Kolarsick, Lauren Shellock, Paul Kolarsick, M.D., Lisa Kolarsick, Daniel Kolarsick, and Lauren Marcolus. She also leaves behind 15 great-nieces and great-nephews and her beloved friends, Joseph Annecharico, Jackie Mangini, Amy Riger, Janet Robertson, M.D., Vincent Cleary, and Patty Murtha.

Visitation was Jan. 12 at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. A funeral Mass was held Jan. 13 at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
