Lucy Mershon Daniel Laverick Cobb Hirsch, 84, of San Diego, California, died July 11, 2024, of natural causes. She was born May 10, 1940 in Hollywood, California, the daughter of Iola Daniel and Hugh Daniel, and later the adopted daughter of Iola’s second husband, William J. Laverick. Lucy grew up in Shrewsbury and was a 1958 graduate of Red Bank High School. She graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont and was an American Airlines stewardess before marrying Howard Cobb in 1962.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas Cobb of Richmond, Virginia, and David Cobb of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by her sister Susan Gordinier of Laguna Beach, California.
Per her wishes, there will be no service; in lieu of flowers or condolences, donations may be made in her name to Emotions Matter, an organization that supports those with borderline personality disorder, at emotionsmatterbpd.org.
Lucy will be cremated and her remains distributed at sea near San Diego where she lived for 30 years.
