Entertain with Jane supplies seasonal touches from wreaths to complete makeovers
When someone calls the Rumson floral and gift boutique Entertain with Jane and says, “Make my Christmas!” owner and staff will be over to do just that. No exaggeration.
“We do pretty much everything,” says Jane DiMisa, an award-winning interior designer from South Florida, who bought the business at 114 East River Road two years ago and lives on a horse farm in Middletown. Doing “everything” means she will come in and “transform your house,” installing Christmas trees and decorations, garlands, wreaths, indoor holiday lights – you name it.
“Sometimes we use customers’ existing decorations, spruce them up, add to them, integrate fresh things, while other times they want everything new,” she explains of her à la carte, soup-to-nuts capabilities. An example of the latter is an extensive Christmas decoration makeover job she did last year – one of her 39 – to the tune of $17,000.
Jane – better known as “Jayni” – points out that typically, wreaths start at $65; a 6- or 7-foot Christmas tree with garlands, lights, and ornaments ranges from about $250 on up.
She decorates people’s front porches, urns, window boxes – whatever is required. Regardless of the form taken by the mix and match combinations – let alone the full package – the Rumson area “is very old-fashioned and traditional in their design styles,” she says.
Each season Jane helps a large number of clients with their Christmas parties. Apart from providing catering services, Jayni creates dinner table “tablescapes,” replete with ornate, detailed flowers and accessories – “the works,” as she puts it.
Then there’s children’s holiday gingerbread house-making parties, and other customized activities. Not to mention a garden center stocked with seasonal plantings and outdoor and indoor décor, and a holiday gift boutique. As a holiday trend in recent years Jayni has seen more people, at least in her market area, entertaining at home and on their estates rather than renting a country club or facility; she expects more of the same this year.
