Mario Lamola of Tinton Falls passed away Aug. 7 at the age of 88. He was born in Newark and resided in Tinton Falls for the past 22 years.

Mario was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 137. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mario regularly attended St. Anselm’s Church of Tinton Falls. He loved to travel and one of his greatest pleasures was spending quality time with his family and friends.

Mario was a caring husband, father and grandpa who was incredibly devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carmela Lamola (née DiMaio) and his children Mario Lamola Jr. and Angela Pineno and her husband Michael Pineno. He was predeceased by his first wife, the mother of his children, Eleanor Lamola, his parents, Angelo and Immaculata Lamola, and his seven siblings.

Additionally, he is survived by his step-children, Jeff Aromando, Karen Koberle and her husband Carl, Lance Aromando and his wife Kim, and his 10 cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Peter Lamola and his wife Catherine, and his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. In keeping with the current state mandates regarding COVID-19, face coverings must be worn by all visitors and will not be provided by the funeral home. Guests will be directed to briefly greet the family and exit the building as soon as possible thereafter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Anselm’s Church, 1028 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls.
