Mary B. Pflug, 80, of Atlantic Highlands, passed away July 18. She was born in Dalkey, County Dublin, Ireland, to the late Michael and Mary (Nicholson) Dempsey. In the 1960s, Mary moved to Brooklyn, New York and eventually settled in Monmouth County to raise her family. She loved exploring nature, especially bird watching, tending to the flowers in her garden and visiting the beach. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her former husband Francis Donald Pflug and her siblings, Miriam, Patsy, Bertie, Tony, Gerard and Murtagh. Surviving are her loving children, Jackie and her husband Martin, Sean and his wife Marie and Audrey and her husband Tracy; her cherished grandchildren, Keeley, Shaemus, Maura, Keegan, Ryan, Timothy, Courtney, Tracy Jr., Charlotte and Mollie; her dear sister Sheila of Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland; and her furry companion Lizzie. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation was held July 23 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 24 at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Mary’s memory to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724 or the charity of your choice.
