LITTLE SILVER — A Monmouth Beach woman was taken into custody on Sunday with police charging her with possession of heroin and shoplifting.
Officers responded to a call from the CVS pharmacy, 510 Prospect Avenue at approximately 4:10 p.m. about a woman who was alleged to have previously stolen a shopping basket of cosmetics, according to Police Chief Daniel Shaffrey.
Labriola allegedly took the items from the pharmacy without paying on Jan. 18, and had again allegedly taken some items on Sunday, police said.
The woman, identified as Dana Labriola, 30, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and with shoplifting, and was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold. She was unable to meet the bail requirement, set at $50,000 with a 10 percent option required for release, according to police.
According to police, when she was arrested, Labriola was in possession of 13 ‘decks’ of what authorities believe to be heroin, which is currently being analyzed by the NJ State Police laboratory, Shaffrey said.
Each deck contains 15 grams of heroin, according to police.
Police allegedly found the drugs in Labriola’s bra and purse, while she was being searched by a female officer, police said.
Each deck has an estimated street value of about $10, according to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni
