Middletown Police Continuing Serious Accident Investigation

MIDDLETOWN –– The township police department is continuing its investigation into a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred on Leonardville Road, near 12th Street, on Friday Night.  

Preliminary investigation of the accident, that resulted in on car bursting into flames, revealed that a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, operated by Mark Gorski, 51, of Hazlet, was traveling westbound on Leonardville Road approaching 12th Street when a second vehicle, a 2013 Ford Mustang,operated by Jacqueline Weidimeyer, 23, of the Belford section of Middletown, made a left turn from 12th Street onto Leonardville Road, in front of Gorski, according to Middletown police.
That caused  Gorski’s vehicle to strike Weidimeyer’s vehicle on the driver’s side. After the impact,   Gorski’s vehicle continued west on Leonardville Road, crossing over into the oncoming lane where it struck a Hyundi SUV, operated by Barbra Vilanova from the Leonardo section of Middletown.  Gorski’s vehicle then flipped onto it’s side and caught fire, police report.
As a result of the crash, Weidimeyer had to be extricated from her vehicle by responding rescue units and was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune where she remains in stable condition. Vilanova was also transported to the Neptune hospital by ambulance and was held overnight as a result of her injuries. Gorski was transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank and was treated for injuries, police said.
 As a result of the preliminary investigation,Gorski was charged with driving while intoxicated. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues, police said.
The crash is being investigated by Cpl. Darrin Simon and Cpl. Nick Caprio from the township police department traffic and safety bureau.
