SHREWSBURY – Retail therapy just got a big boost with new businesses opening doors in the borough’s prime corridors right in time for the holidays. A new ALDI on Newman Springs Road and Bloomingdale’s fourth Bloomie’s store in The Grove have opened up new options for residents.

ALDI, the nationwide grocery chain, opened its latest store in Shrewsbury at 179 Newman Springs Road Oct. 24. To celebrate, the first 100 customers received a gift bag filled with a sampling of ALDI products and a gift card as part of the Golden Ticket gift card giveaway program. Shoppers could also enter sweepstakes during the opening weekend for a chance to win a $500 ALDI gift card.

The store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with access to curbside pickup and grocery delivery options. The store offers the regular fare of grocery items from produce to cheese and wine, including gluten-free and plant-based products.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley vice president for ALDI, in a press release announcing the opening of the store. “We’re excited to open our first ALDI store in Shrewsbury and introduce local customers to a new, more affordable way of shopping.”

Bloomingdale’s opened its fourth Bloomie’s store Nov. 14 at The Grove in Shrewsbury. This location will be the first of its kind to carry an all-women’s assortment, including a curated collection of contemporary ready-to-wear clothing, beauty products and fine jewelry.

To celebrate the grand opening, Bloomie’s is hosting Bloomie’s Winter Village following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which includes a winter wonderland display featuring fashion trends, exclusive gifts and more.

Bloomie’s will also be hosting a meet-and-greet with Santa at its Holiday Bash Dec. 7, where shoppers can expect a private sip-and-shop with brunch bites, music, giveaways and gifting.

The Grove has undergone changes this past year. Metrovation, the Red Bank-based marketing company that co-owns The Grove in partnership with Federal Realty Investment Trust, relocated six stores; two stores moved to Grove West; Lululemon doubled its square footage in its new end cap space next to South Moon Under; and two new stores, Free People Movement and Bloomie’s, opened at the center.

Metrovation is about to lease the former Lululemon space but will not be announcing the replacement tenant just yet.

“The Grove is well positioned for the holidays,” said Chris Cole, managing partner at Metrovation. “We have been planning the 2024 holiday season for about 24 months and proactive changes were set in motion to meet the needs of our community.”
