Oceanic Bridge Overnight Closures to Begin Tuesday

RumsonOceanic3_MG_7729The Oceanic Bridge connecting Middletown to Rumson will be subject to overnight closures through April 30. Traffic may be also limited to a single lane during mid-day and early evening hours during this time.
The first closure will be on Tuesday, March 24 at 10:30 p.m.  through 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Regular overnight closures will then be in place Sunday through Friday mornings through April.
The county bridge over the Navesink River will remain open all day Friday and Saturday, and during peak weekday times to facilitate commerce, said a county official.
Contractor George Harms Construction of Howell will be performing repair work to the structural steel and concrete deck of the bridge. The work is expected to be completed by May 15, weather permitting.
“The county’s contractor has worked mostly below the bridge and through cold temperatures and snow to complete the preparatory work and measurements needed to move into the more visible phase of the repair work,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone,, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering, in a press release.
The Oceanic Bridge schedule, weather permitting, Sunday through Friday mornings, from on or about March 24 to April 30 will be:
6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. – both bridge lanes open to all traffic
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – single lane closure with alternating lanes of vehicular traffic
2 p.m. to 6 p.m. – both bridge lanes open to all traffic
6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. – single lane closure with alternating lanes of vehicular traffic
10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. – bridge closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic
For marine traffic, seasonal rules and scheduling will be in effect.
