HIGHLANDS – There was dancing in the park at the annual Highlands Oktoberfest, celebrated at Veterans Park Saturday, Oct. 5. With a nod to Munich, the festive event offered authentic varieties of light and dark Oktoberfest beers, as well as American favorites, ciders and Riesling wine. German specialties delighted palates; there was bratwurst, knockwurst, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, sauerbraten and Bavarian noodles, enjoyed by visitors in the sunshine as the oompah band played rousing traditional songs.
