Raymond Michael Burd, a cherished son, companion, brother, uncle and friend, passed away Nov. 6, 2025, at the age of 64 at Riverview Medical Center after a valiant battle with cancer. Born March 31, 1961, in Long Branch, he was the son of the late Fred “Fuzzy” Burd and Theresa Kenny. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Belford.

Raymond was a devoted son to his mother and a loving companion to Theresa Valastro. His strong family bonds were evident in his close relationships with his brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred (Debra) Burd and Kevin (Terri) Burd, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine (RJ) Kirk. His nieces and nephews – Samantha (Michael) Hague, Brian Kirk, Shannon (David) Dorgan, Stevie-Lyn Burd and Daniel Burd – will always cherish the great memories they have with their Uncle Raymond. He was also a favorite among his great-nieces, Zoe Kirk, Lennon Hague and Madeleine and Chloe Dorgan.

Raymond was an avid fisherman and a passionate Cowboys fan. He had the rare ability to light up a room with his jokes and laughter, making every gathering a memorable one.

As the family bids farewell to Raymond, they celebrate a life lived with joy, generosity and a touch of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his kind spirit. Raymond’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind, a testament to a life well-lived and a man well-loved.

A visitation and service were held Nov. 9 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals in Belford. A private cremation followed.
