Sarah (Beth) Emerick, née McNamara, 82, Lincroft, was born Christmas Day, which was apropos for the way she lived her life. She passed away Feb. 1, 2022. Beth was born in Escanaba, Michigan, and raised in the small town of Ubly, Michigan.
She moved to Lincroft in 1965 where she raised her family and lived at 182 Manor Parkway for 45 years. Beth worked as a dedicated Registered Nurse and went above and beyond for every patient, which developed into lasting friendships with many of them.
Beth was a well-liked member of her community, where you were guaranteed to see her at St. Leo’s Church or “the center.” She always had a smile on her face and, when you ran into her, you could count on hearing one of her many clichés.
An avid baseball and football fan, the Yankees were her team and there was no changing the channel if there was a game on.
Every year like clockwork, Beth would show up at her friends and neighbors’ door with fresh baked Christmas cookies, to show how much she appreciated them. She was a caring, humble, generous person whose positive attitude was truly inspiring. Mom, you will be missed by everyone who knew you. Remember, “If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.”
Beth was predeceased by her daughter Mary Beth Emerick; parents James C. and Mary Loretta McNamara; and sister Mary Janet Harwood of Jackson, Michigan. She is survived by her children Julie, Jack and Kathy Emerick; her grandchildren Zephaniah Story and Natalie and Jack Emerick; sons-in-law Ryan Story and Jason Sisino; her sister Ann M. Burns of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brother Conrad G. McNamara of Michigan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a private service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
