Joan Shrum, 84, formerly of Belford and most recently of Simpsonville, South Carolina, peacefully passed away Feb. 5, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
Joan was born Feb. 24, 1934 in Red Bank, a daughter of the late Anna and William Goldman. She was raised in Belford and, after marrying, she moved to Indiana for a while before returning home to New Jersey. She eventually retired in South Carolina to be near her children.
Joan was an administrator at the Girl Scouts of Singing Sands Council in Indiana. She loved to dance and laugh; Joan had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and was researching her ancestry while creating her family tree. She was pursuing membership in the First Families of Old Monmouth County (N.J.).
Joan is survived by two daughters, Deborah Sutton and Elizabeth Shrum, along with her son Gregory Shrum. She also leaves behind her brother William Frederick and her grandson Kenneth Sutton.
Friends and relatives paid their respects Feb. 12 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A Funeral Service concluded the visitation. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
